There are a few brands I use that are 100% recycled toilet paper. Yes they do come in a plastic wrap, but they are more affordable for me. Kroger sells Simple Truth 100% Recycled. Target sells EverSpring 100% Recycled. And if you have a Whole Foods their 365 brand has 100% Recycled Toilet Paper. Hope this helps anyone who wants to try to be better but can't break the bank.

I really don’t like these types of videos because they’re just another type of consumption. I wish you’d talk about how to take real ACTION. Like how to leave comments on pipeline projects, how to contact your mayor, or county commissioner, or whatever, about getting recycling and composting programs put in place.

Check out the rest of Emma's videos, she has a lot on how to reduce consumption and a fair bit on activism as well! I don't really see a problem with talking about swaps like this because we all need to use stuff like soap and toothbrushes, so why not make a more eco friendly choice?

i had the same issue with Quip and my tight teeth. i even tried wrapping the floss a couple times around each end, which was a bit time consuming and made the floss stay taut a little longer than just pinching the single strand. i also noticed the same issue as you with the natural floss breaking easily with my right teeth😞

I tried using old wax, but if the wick falls into it you get black dots and that makes it flamable (I think?!?! That was the only logical explanation i could think of as to why my candle went full fire mode), so to all - be careful. I think your method of throwing the end away is the safest. I also reuse candle jars (especially the big yankee ones with a lid) for things like storing dishwasher tablets. I love making re-use of things, especially when something is a gift

Okay. I don’t do real candles due to fire hazard, and I have trouble with a lot of scents. Good job figuring out how to reuse those jars & make your own replacement candles. This past winter I’ve testing out LED volte candles that are a softer light. I use them during power outages to put some light in the hallway so you don’t go through darkness walking from bedroom to kitchen. It has some sort of battery, which when it dies will be replaced with a rechargeable battery. I have been slowly replacing dead batteries with rechargeable ones. About half replaced now.

@syrehanmin6342 if a person feels shame because of a fact then that's on them..I didn't put her down, I stated a fact. This project is not zero waste. It's barely low waste. If you're going to "change your life for the better" wouldn't integrity be high on that list. Fake accomplishments should not be celebrated or bragged about. If she didn't immediately claim to live a zero waste life and then consequently show how she is in fact not zero waste, then someone saying "hey that's not zero waste" is not an insult. If someone feels like being zero waste is a valuable way to live, then they should live that way, but not lie about it for literally no reason. One of the dangers of lying in public is being called on it. I am very comfortable that the way I live is right for me, I choose to consume and have hobbies that consume because it makes me happy. The world and society are actual shit shows, being zero waste is like throwing water at a wave. But if it makes YOU (or anyone) feel happy to do it, then actually do it. Live with integrity not hopes and dreams

they're pretty interchangeable these days and I just use it as a search term. We shouldn't be so pedantic about the words "zero waste"

I have not built up my thrifting “muscles” but it is on my radar & I have been collecting second hand kitchen supplies for the past several months getting ready to move out. I mainly was doing that so I have mostly PYREX and Corning Ware instead of relying on modern pyrex but that goes to show the 40yr old items are 100% worth it. I have been buying clothes new but it is because I value quality clothes for work and found 2 great brands for my purpose: Wool & and Quince. Now that I have essentially a capsule wardrobe (though I call it an intentional wardrobe since I can’t do the “true” minimalist thing) I will start putting more effort into thrifting since I now have a solid base. Fabric waste: I sew and a by product of that is I save all old jeans and tshirts & some other items too. I also have started saving all the scraps in 2 categories: scraps big enough to use on a “scrap project” (which I’ve always done) but now all the pieces too small for that get saved to use as stuffing for toys since I recently started getting into knitting stuffed animals and plan to sew some too.

My favorite brands of water bottles and tumblers are Camelbak and Yeti. Been using my plastic Camelbak water bottle for about a decade & had to replace the lid (the old ones would get a weird tacky feeling that wouldn’t wash off after a couple years) but it’s still going strong and I fully plan on getting a stainless steel one when the plastic finally kicks the bucket. One thing I love is the interchangeable lids since a stainless steel water bottle can be turned into a coffee or tea sipping cup or a straw cup. While I fully acknowledge there are other equally good tumbler brands I love the quality of my 30oz Yeti and especially the lids, I have an aluminum 16oz tumbler too and replaced the broken lid with a Magslide, the increase in heat retention was crazy. My aluminum one is getting pretty beat up since I have used it near daily for 4yrs and I am really looking forward to replacing it with a a Yeti since my 8yr old one looks brand new other than one dent (it may have slid off my icy car roof a few years ago… lol). My fiancé bought one of the off brand Stanley’s and has been using it for absolutely everything, can’t say enough good things about a stainless steel container that works for you whichever one you choose.

Reusable tissues: so I tried using some cut up soft tshirts and also regular woven cotton and found they are too rough for my nose. I don’t see anyone talking about this, has anyone else noticed this problem? I do intend on looking for a new fabric probably a rayon or something but have not yet put in the effort.

I think they can be rough if you're using them constantly. But I find using it occassionally doens't hurt!

Those apps where you have to link your bank account are like way too much for me. In my opinion environmentalism shouldn’t come at the expense of privacy. Y do use ecosia since they claim they respect your privacy. The video game in this list reminded me of two Nokia Lumia apps. One is Climate Mission and it is was more resembling to the game you mentioned. I liked it. The other one was Modern Mayor, it was more like sim city and I loved it! RIP Nokia lumia lol
